Time Line for Trail Work

 March

Identify who will be responsible for storing & maintaining the grooming & mowing equipment.  Mowing equipment should be ready by June; grooming equipment ready by Thanksgiving.

 

May

Identify & obtain signed contracts from the mower(s) for the summer.

Identify & obtain signed contracts from the groomers for the upcoming season.

Secure mowing & dozing commitment from Forestry.

Identify who will be responsible for surveying the trail & reporting back to officers regarding needed water diversion, water crossings, trail repair, trail signage, mowing, downed timber & encroaching brush.

 

June

Contact Gary Sarauer (DNR dozer operator) well prior to July 1 with dozing requests.  His new fiscal year starts July 1.

 

Summer

Identify who will be responsible for the work needs determined by the trail surveyors & officers.

 

September

Organize a fall work day.

 

November

Get the trail cleared & ready for grooming prior to the start of the gun-deer season.  Final check of east & west sides with ATV(s) & chainsaws in early-mid November.  Start with the core loop first.

 

Anytime

 Survey the trail as needed after rain & wind storms, etc.
