Trail Conditions
Blue Hills Trail CONDITIONS
Winter made a surprise appearance March 24/25 with a 10-inch moist 'snowman' snowfall followed by 1+ inches of rain. With below freezing temps, this has morphed into a dense 4"-6" layer of rain soaked snow with a crusty surface that was fairly firm as of Thursday morning (March 28). The trails haven't been groomed, but if you're feeling adventurous, you may find find decent waxless striding conditions -- skate skiing may be possible if the crust is solid enough when you visit.
NOTE: 1)the parking lot at the warming house hasn't been plowed, you can park on the Firelane Road - please stay to the side; 2)people have driven on the East Side 'Gravel Road' from 1-2-3-4 but there's skiable snow off to the side; Excelsior Road (West Side) has received quite a bit of truck traffic, that area is probably not skiable.
Hiking is not enjoyable at this time because of the depth of the snow - consider snowshoeing instead.
