There was light rain early Tuesday morning (Jan. 13th) with temps reaching the low 40s before stiff north winds dropped Wednesday morning temps to the teens. Anticipate an icy surface glaze until fresh snow arrives and we groom the ski trails.
Despite the icing conditions during the week of January 4-11, weekend grooming produced surprisingly decent skiing conditions Monday (January 12th) on the main trails on both the East and West side of the trail system. The skate lane had ground up ice creating a rough corduroy surface that was fairly level, and a good classic track. "Fast and exhilarating" to quote a Sunday skier (extra caution is advised on downhills). Many of the side trails that branch off the East Side Core Loop were groomed last Friday but were rough and not very skiable this past weekend - but some of those trails were groomed again Sunday evening (January 11th) and hopefully are smoother now.
